| Can't I just use one of the free shopping carts or calendar programs? |
Shopping carts don't work at all for reservations. They are designed to sell products from a catalog, and they
have zero ability to track date-based reservations, certification prerequisites, deposits, progress payments, etc.
The free calendar programs don't let people see whether trips are full or not.
(And 2001 proved disastrous for Dot Coms that gave away everything for free! How long will that free calendar site remain free?)

Oh, there may be other reservation systems that are very basic, look like shopping carts, and don't have the sophisticated payment handling features

With Aquatrix, you can print out your reservation schedule before you board the boat and keep a paper copy
onboard. So you can still answer questions about availability and book trips on your paper copy.
You can even have notifications sent to your text-message-equipped (SMS) cellphone, so you can stay up-to-date
on new reservations, cancellations, and online payments.
Then, when you get back to shore, you can update the online reservation calendar with any offline reservations you have taken over the phone,
and you'll be all set for the next day!
Or, if you have cellphone coverage on your boat, you can get one of the new phones that have built-in browser and Internet access (Verizon, Cingular, etc.)
